How to wear coloured jeans

Sometimes working the season’s trends for every age group can be a tricky thing. In fact sometimes it just doesn’t work.   Then every so often something comes along – be it a colour, a style, a shape and it’s an instant hit – adaptable to any and everyone’s needs!

We are excited because that has happened this season -

A trend that EVERYONE is loving and can wear this season is coloured jeans!

In fact it’s more than just a “trend” it’s a fashion movement, and one that is sweeping across our nation.  Available in every colour in the rainbow, and in styles to suit every age, women from all over are pulling on these cheerful bottoms and dancing their problems away.  Ok so maybe I’m exaggerating, there may not be any dancing happening because of their bottoms just yet, but you get the picture.  It lifts the spirits to see colour is getting its moment in the spotlight.

ALL our brands are getting on board with renowned denim brand JAG bringing out a skinny leg jean in six EXCLUSIVE shades.  While Gabriella Fratini have sourced a beautifully soft denim in an array of colours ranging from pastel to neon with a straight leg and high rise.

So the only question now is; what to wear with coloured jeans?

Below I have styled some coloured jean outfits appropriate for any age, any occasion, depending on the look YOU want to achieve…

On Mikayla; Wish Blazer, Betty Basics Tee, JAG Mid Rise Skinny Jean Flaming Red, Indy C Necklace, Stilmoda Ankle Boots..On Bronny; Jump Top, Gabriella Fratini Jeans Salmon, Kalinya Black Wedges..

Want to try coloured jeans but unsure of how to work it into your wardrobe?  Try pairing the bold colour back with a classic black and white combo.  Relaxed weekend styling is best done with a basic top and minimal jewellery (as shown on Bronny, right).  For an outfit that will take you from the office to a Friday night with ease, keep the top half classic with a white tee and blazer; add a statement necklace and some heels.

On Bronwyn; Katherine Bridgette Blouse, Gabriella Fratini Jeans, Cinnamon Flats.. On Mikayla; Betty Basics Maui Tee, JAG Mid Rise Skinny Jean Ice Mint, Indy C Zahara Flat, Indy C Woven Clutch, Indy C Necklace..

Highlight your coloured bottoms by choosing tops from the same colour pallet but a different tone.  This combination creates subtlety. Or soften the look even more with a white or cream top.

Strategic placement of colour will help draw eyes where you want them.  Want to take the focus away from your bottom half? Keep the bold colour on top.  And vica versa for if you want to take attention away from your top.

On Mikayla; Betty Basics London Pocket Tee, Jag Mid Rise Skinny Jean Lagoon, Moni Mollie Flats, Indy C Bag.. On Bronwyn; Naudic St Tropez Top, Gabriella Fratini Jeans, Cinnamon Flats..

For the colour brave, the next step is colour blocking and when styled correctly this look is A LOT of fun!  An easy way to achieve the colourful effect and not look like a Christmas tree is to choose a printed top and pick a jean colour that is already found in/compliments the pattern.  We’ve used the Betty Basics London Pocket tee (left) and the Naudic St Tropez top (right).   Keep the rest of your accessories neutral to avoid a look that’s too busy.

So there you have it! Wearing a coloured jean is a fun, flattering and easy choice for what is shaping up to be a very bright season!  Come in store or visit us online to see our full range of coloured denim available and check out what else is new.
